The Clagett House at Cool Spring Manor is a historic house in Prince George's County, Maryland, built around 1830 by William Digges Clagett on the family's Cool Spring Manor property. Boats passed through a weigh lock at York Furnace, where tolls were paid. Teams of mules walked on towpaths beside the canal and pulled the boats. At the upper terminus, across the river from Columbia, a wooden bridge with a two-tier tow path allowed mules going in opposite directions to cross the Susquehanna River simultaneously without colliding.
In 1945, at the closure of Naval Amphibious Training Base Solomons, the land was given to the state of Maryland and used for Maryland Marine Police for Tidewater Fisheries Enforcement Patrols. In 1959 the US sold the land to a private yacht club and marina. In 1981 the land was sold again.
