Stockton University is a public university in Galloway Township, New Jersey. It is part of New Jersey's public system of higher education. It is named for Richard Stockton, one of the New Jersey signers of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Founded in 1969, Stockton accepted its charter class in 1971.
Vera King Farris (July 18, 1938 [2] – November 28, 2009 [3] [4]) was the third president of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey from May 25, 1983, to June 3, 2003. [5] She was the first female African-American president of a New Jersey public college and one of the first in the nation.
