Club Universidad Nacional Femenil, commonly known as UNAM or their nickname Pumas Femenil, is a Mexican professional women's football club based in Mexico City that competes in the Liga MX Femenil. The club has been the women's section of Club Universidad Nacional since 2016.
The Pumas are one of the most popular clubs in Mexico and considered to be one of the Cuatro Grandes of Mexican football, alongside Cruz Azul, Guadalajara, and Club América. [7] [8] Domestically, Pumas UNAM has won 11 trophies: 7 Liga MX, 1 Copa MX, the Campeón de Campeones twice, as well as 1 Segunda División de México.
It was contested by Mexican club UNAM and Argentinian club Boca Juniors. Boca was defending their trophy and Pumas UNAM were playing in their first Copa Sudamericana finals. The first leg was played in Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico D.F. on 6 December 6, and the match was tied 1–1.
In addition to league play, UNAM will also participate in several cup competitions. In July and August, Liga MX play will halt for the Leagues Cup, an continental competition with Major League Soccer clubs hosted in Canada and the United States. [2]

From 1969 until 2002, the Pumas Dorados team consisted of a selection of the best players of all UNAM teams. These teams didn't play any regular season games, but rather the Pumas Dorados used to play a Classic game against the Burros Blancos at the end of season, until 2002 when this event was suspended.
