The National Basketball Championship is a professional men's national level basketball tournament, held by the Basketball Federation of India, governing body of basketball in India. The competition is contested among the regional state teams affiliated under the BFI.

The 2022–23 INBL season was the inaugural season of the Indian National Basketball League, the newly established professional basketball league in India. The season began on 16 October 2022 and ended on 15 January 2023. [1] Chennai Heat won the championship. [2]
The Kanteerava Indoor Stadium hosted the Finals of the inaugural season in 2022–23.. The INBL was founded in 2021. [1] [2] The league was granted a five-year license by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) to run the competition and also help promote the 3x3 version of the game. [1]
India created its first professional basketball league, titled Universal Basketball Alliance (UBA), in 2015. [8] The first winner of the UBA was Chennai Slam. [9] The tournament was folded in 2017 after it completed its fourth season and in 2022 the league was replaced with the EPBL and the developmental INBL.
