Credit scores are complex algorithms and there's no such thing as "low balling". Each model weighs credit factors differently, and consumers aren't privy to the complete formula. USAA has no benefit from giving you a lower score. FICO 3 is an older model and therefore probably cheaper for them to use.

USAA has like 3 branches.. Closest to SC is either San Antonio or Miami or something.. So, I can't deposit cash. I get a postal money order and deposit those, but the max amount is like $1500 for a postal money order. I don't have a low balance. Between various accounts with USAA, it usually is around the $30k mark.
While the USAA with hurricane insurance is much more expensive than standard USAA (about $1200/year more), coverage is unchanged during a named storm with USAA w/hurricane (though the deducible for hurricane damage is higher). I was able to add all my accounts in USAA for years. About a year ago, my Pentagon Federal cc stopped cooperating. I tried Empower but the same issue with PF. And both USAA and Empower frequently drop the connection to my TSP, 529 and mortgage accounts. its annoying to have to reconnect.
