The 2022 CFL season was the 68th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 64th season of the Canadian Football League. Labour Day weekend, roughly 12 or 13 weeks into the CFL season, is known for its matchups that do not change from year to year, unlike other "rivalry" weeks of the CFL schedule. Labour Day weekend is also one of typically two weeks (the Thanksgiving Day Classic being the other) in the CFL schedule that the league plays on a Monday.

The 2020 CFL season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic; on May 20, 2020, the CFL announced that the Grey Cup in Regina had been cancelled, and that the game would be played at the home field of the team with the better regular season record, if played at all. Regina was therefore awarded the Grey Cup game played in 2022.
The 2022 CFL season was the second season for Paul LaPolice as the team's head coach, but he was fired after leading the team to another 3–11 record. [2] The team had also won just one home game out of 14 tries with LaPolice as head coach, including an 0–7 record in 2022.
