Elena visits Jeremy, who tries not to kill her. Damon arrives, telling Elena he wants to make amends to Jeremy, and they go to the Mystic Grill (where he and Matt are). Damon approaches Jeremy, who goes into an isolated storage room. Deducing that Kol ordered him to kill Jeremy, Damon warns Elena to keep him away from her brother.
Damon admits that he loves her and Elena kisses him when Katherine arrives with Klaus’ blood. Damon drinks it and gets healed while Katherine informs them that Stefan sacrificed everything to save his brother and he will leave town with Klaus. The episode ends with Jeremy seeing Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Anna's ghosts.
He shows Damon a stake and says he came there to kill him, but then throws it away. Damon asks him why he changed his mind. Jeremy says his father and his uncle hated vampires because they were taught to, but he realizes that killing Damon wouldn’t solve anything. Damon says his father felt the same way. Jeremy leaves.
Elena and Alaric become angry with John when Isobel's arrival devastates Jenna. Alaric is abducted by Maddox, a warlock from Klaus's inner circle. Meanwhile, Bonnie works with Jeremy and Damon to find the spell they need to gather the power of the witches killed in the massacre. Damon takes them to the site where the witches were burned.
Ian Somerhalder was cast as Damon Salvatore at the end of March 2009, six months before the premiere of the series. [1] The initial casting call for the character required an actor in his early- to mid-twenties to play a "darkly handsome, strong, charming, and smug vampire who can go from casual and playful to pure evil in less than a heartbeat."
The episode ends with Damon finding Katherine in his room having a shower. He is shocked seeing her there but Katherine explains that when an Original dies then their compulsion wears off and that is how she was able to get out of the tomb and she knew that if she begged him not to kill Elijah Damon would do the exact opposite.
Damon follows her and attacks her once again. When Jeremy cannot find her anywhere, they all start looking for her, including Stefan, who hears her screaming from afar. Damon keeps her at the roof of a building threatening to drop her. Stefan rushes himself to the roof asking Damon to let Vicki go.
