On July 26, 2012, Christopher Newport University, Penn State Harrisburg and Southern Virginia University joined the CAC for all sports in the 2013-14 academic year, effective on June 1, 2013. [ 2 ] On March 1, 2018, Marymount and Wesley departed the CAC for the newly-formed Atlantic East Conference (AEC) following the end the 2017-18 academic year.
The Coast to Coast Athletic Conference, formerly the Capital Athletic Conference, sponsors 18 sports in which 21 (8 current) athletic programs have competed in. Up until the 2019–20 season, championships were under the branding Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), from the 2020–21 season on, championships are under the Coast to Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) branding.

Christopher Newport University (CNU) is a public university in Newport News, Virginia, United States.It was founded in 1960 as Christopher Newport College, an extension school of the College of William and Mary for mid-career working professionals, members of the military, and non-traditional students in and around the Newport News area of the Hampton Roads region.
The CNU women's volleyball team was established in 1977, and has enjoyed considerable success in recent years under head coach Lindsay Birch. The Captains have appeared in every NCAA D-III tournament since 2006 (with the exception of 2020, which was cancelled due to COVID-19 ).
