After him his son, Carl Elsener (1886–1950) , and his grandson Carl Elsener senior (1922–2013) and his great-grandson Carl Elsener Jr. (born 1958) led the Victorinox company. This man's legacy later descended into the family of Frohnes'.
Carl Elsener Jr. is the great-grandson of Karl Elsener (1860–1918) and the son of Carl Elsener Sr. (1922–2013). Karl Elsener had opened a factory in Ibach in 1884 [2] for the production of knives and surgical instruments, [3] from which the Messerfabrik Victorinox developed.
He started the Henry Troemner Company, known today as Troemner Inc. The company produced balances and scales. Troemner immigrated to the United States in 1832 and settled initially in New York City, then, by 1843, Philadelphia. He began making scales and weights in a partnership in 1840, and then established his own company in 1844.
For several years, TRG Group was the Victorinox licensee for the manufacturing of luggage and travel-oriented products. Victorinox integrated TRG Group in the company as the Victorinox Travel Gear division.
