Jennifer Kay Bellamy Chandler (born June 13, 1959) is a retired American diver who attended the University of Arizona, and won a gold medal in diving in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. [ 1 ] Chandler was born on June 30, 1959 in Langdale, Alabama,and started diving when she was nine.
She is the first woman to win the three major diving world titles. [1] Wilkinson retired in 2008. After nine years of retirement, she returned to competition in 2017 and placed second at Nationals. She trained for her fourth Olympic Games (2021) at Texas A&M University's swimming and diving facilities but did not qualify. [2]
A few months later, she was eleventh at the 1972 United States Olympic Trials in 3m springboard. [4] Wilson moved to platform diving in June 1973 when coach Ron O'Brien recommended the sport to her. Her first win in platform was at the women's 10 metre platform event during the 1973 Amateur Athletic Union national diving championships. [5]
