[3] In 1867, it merged with the Western Flying Post, which had been founded in Yeovil in 1743; the Western Flying Post had merged in 1749 with the Sherborne Mercury, which was first published in 1737.

The Yeovil Times was a free weekly newspaper, published and distributed in South Somerset (which includes the town of Yeovil), in association with the Western Gazette. It was owned by Northcliffe Media, then part of the Daily Mail and General Trust newsgroup. Its content was largely based on local issues.
