Makima (Japanese: マキマ, Hepburn: Makima) is a fictional character from Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga series Chainsaw Man. She is the main antagonist of Part 1, the "Public Safety Saga", and is the caretaker of main character Denji , promising him food and shelter if he comes under her care and threatening him with death otherwise.
Makima, an officer of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, arrives too late to stop the violence; she surprisingly hugs Chainsaw Man, transforming him back to Denji. Makima buys Denji a meal, but before he can eat, she orders him to rescue a girl kidnapped by the Muscle Devil; after he returns, successful, Makima feeds him.
In the aftermath, Denji joins a team of governmental Devil Hunters, the Public Safety Division, led by Makima, who assigns him to kill the Gun Devil. After being paired with a more experienced Devil Hunter named Aki Hayakawa, Denji begins training with his partner, Power the Blood Fiend, under the veteran Devil Hunter Kishibe.
Denji and Makima arrive at the Devil Hunters Headquarters in Tokyo after eating in the rest area. Denji wishes to team up with Makima, but she introduces him to Aki Hayakawa, a Public Safety Devil Hunter who takes Denji out on patrol. Aki and Denji get into a fight during the patrol, with Aki telling Denji he should quit for his own safety.
On her way to escape with Denji after their fight, she is wounded and captured by the Angel Devil under control of Makima, who later uses her to fight Denji alongside the other brainwashed hybrids. Denji helps her recover, but Aki, possessed by the Gun Devil, attacks them. In the ensuing battle, Denji kills Aki, devastating both him and Power. Later, Power was shot by Makima in front of Denji, to break his spirit. Power revives as the Blood Devil from Denji's blood at Pochita's request to save Denji, but is fatally wounded by Makima again.
