MIST is a Government Engineering Institution of the Ministry of Defence.Despite its name suggesting an institution, all the activities (academic curriculum, teacher's recruitment, result publishing, research activists, club, etc.) carried out within it resemble those of a university.The academic programs of MIST was previously affiliated with the University of Dhaka.
