In adjustable shelving systems, the bracket may be in two parts, with the load-bearing horizontal support fitting into a wall-mounted slotted vertical metal strip. Brackets also are an element in the systems used to mount modern facade cladding systems onto the outside of contemporary buildings, as well as interior panels.

Cross section diagram of standard strut channel. Basic strut channel comes in the open box section 1 + 5 ⁄ 8 in (41 mm) square. A half height 1 + 5 ⁄ 8 in × 13 ⁄ 16 in (41 mm × 21 mm) version is also available, used mostly where mounted directly to a wall as it has significantly less stiffness and ability to carry loads across an open space or brace.
Poles, from which these buildings get their name, are natural shaped or round wooden timbers 4 to 12 inches (100 to 300 mm) in diameter. [4] The structural frame of a pole building is made of tree trunks, utility poles, engineered lumber or chemically pressure-treated squared timbers which may be buried in the ground or anchored to a concrete slab.
FRC poles are hollow and similar to the tubular steel poles, with a typical wall thickness of 1 ⁄ 4 to 1 ⁄ 2 in (6 to 13 mm) with an outer polyurethane coating that is ~0.002 in (0.05 mm) thin. As with all the other non-wood poles, FRC poles cannot be mounted with the traditional climbing hardware of hooks and gaffs.
