Ascension Michigan (formerly St. John Providence Health System) is a not-for-profit Catholic health system in the U.S. state of Michigan.A division of Ascension Health, it currently operates four hospitals in Southwestern Michigan, having previously operated in mid-Michigan and Metro Detroit. [1]
In 2018 the system was renamed Ascension Michigan as it had been acquired by Ascension Health. Accordingly, the names of the hospitals, including the Novi one, changed. [7] In 2023 Ascension negotiated an agreement with Henry Ford Health System which lead to this hospital becoming Henry Ford Providence Hospital Novi in 2024.
On October 18, 2023, Henry Ford Health announced plans to create a joint venture with Ascension, assuming the Metro Detroit and Flint operations of Ascension Michigan. [10] [11] Under this arrangement, Ascension controls a 20% ownership and voting stake in the combined organization. The merger was finalized on September 30, 2024.
