In Greek mythology, Phaedra (/ ˈ f iː d r ə, ˈ f ɛ d r ə /; Ancient Greek: Φαίδρα, romanized: Phaídra) is a Cretan princess. Her name derives from the Greek word φαιδρός ( phaidros ), which means "bright".
