The Episcopal consecration took place on February 11, 2012, at St.Lucia's Cathedral, Colombo. His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo presided as the Principal Consecrator along with Most Rev Archbishop Joseph Spiteri (former Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka) and Rt. Duleep Kamil De Chickera is the 14th Anglican Bishop of Colombo, Sri Lanka.He was inaugurated in 2001. Educated at Royal College, Colombo representing the college at 1st XV Rugby, he gained his training for the ministry at Theological College of Lanka in Pilimathalawa, earning a B.Th thereafter earning a M.Sc. from Keble College, Oxford.
He was ordained priest on 3 February 1958. He was consecrated bishop on 17 July 1968. He has held several posts during his service in the Archdiocese, such as, Lecturer at St. Aloysius' Seminary, Colombo from 1958 to 1960, and Director cum Editor of the Catholic Press, Colombo from 1961 to 1968. [1]
