The Padmanabhaswamy temple treasure is a collection of valuable objects including gold thrones, crowns, coins, statues and ornaments, diamonds and other precious stones. It was discovered in some of the subterranean vaults of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, in the Indian state of Kerala, when five of its six (or possibly eight) vaults were opened on 27 June 2011.
The royal family has maintained that they oppose the opening of Vault B, stating that it is a "secret and sacred place." According to the July 2020 ruling, the decision to open Vault B or leave it undisturbed stands with the advisory and administrative committees appointed to help manage the Temple.
While vault B (as also presumably Vault G and Vault H) remains unopened (since the 1880s), vaults A, C, D, E and F were opened along with some of their antechambers. Among the reported findings, are a 1.1 metres (3.5 ft) tall solid pure golden idol of Mahavishnu , studded with hundreds of diamonds and rubies and other precious stones. [ 36 ]
