The Kingsport–Bristol–Bristol metropolitan area is a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, United States, as defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). It was formed in December 2003 by the merger of the Bristol, VA MSA and Kingsport–Bristol, TN–VA MSA.
The district encompasses 134 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential area of Bristol. The neighborhood developed in the late-19th and early-20th centuries, and contains primarily one- to two-story frame and brick dwellings constructed from 1868 to the 1940s.

Holland is located in what used to be called Old Nansemond County. In 1860, the Holland City Commission was made up of 12 members, 10 of whom were named Holland. [citation needed] Holland became a stop on the Atlantic and Danville Railway in 1890. [2] On May 21, 1928, the first Ruritan Club in the United States was founded in Holland, Virginia. [3]
Terry Holland, who died Sunday at 80, was best known as Virginia’s basketball coach. But his roots were in North Carolina, and they led him back here many times.
Most of the buildings in Holland were built after 1910. Notable buildings include Dr. Job Holland Building, the former Bank of Holland, the railroad depot, Holland Christian Church (1918), Holland Baptist Church (1922), and the William T. Holland farmhouse (1860–1880). [3] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. [1]
