The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (lit. ' Youth, Labour, and Farmer Congress Party ', YSRCP or YCP), [8] often shortened to simply the YSR Congress Party, is an Indian regional political party based in the state of Andhra Pradesh. On 11 December 2023, he resigned as MLA of Mangalagiri assembly constituency and left the YSRCP for personal reasons [6] and joined Indian National Congress in the presence of Y. S. The YSRTP is led by its founder as president of the party. The headquarters of the party is located in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. [4] [5] The party initially planned to contest in the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election, but later withdrew its decision, with the party president Sharmila extending her support to the Indian National Congress.
On 9 April 2021, Sharmila had announced that she would launch a new political party on 8 July 2021 in Telangana. [12] She chose the date because it is the birth date of her father, Rajasekhara Reddy. Ahead of the party's launch, she has started campaigning against the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi government.
The humiliation meted out to the YSR family by the Congress high command provoked the family member Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy, against Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to threaten him politically. YS Vijaya quit the Congress party and assembly membership along with her son who also quit both the party and his MP seat on 29 November 2010. [6]
