Chadwell St Mary is an area of the unitary authority of Thurrock in Essex, England. It is one of the traditional (Church of England) parishes in Thurrock and a former civil parish. Grays is 2 miles (3.2 km) to the west and 1 mile (1.6 km) to the south is Tilbury.
The Great Depression and the population shift following World War II also changed the village, as chain stores moved into the area and the increased suburbification of the surrounding area changed the demands on downtown Oxford. In the 1960s and 1960s, surrounding buildings were demolished to make room for parking lots and infill buildings.
Nearby settlements include the towns of Tilbury and Grays and the villages of Orsett and Chadwell St Mary. For transport there is the A13 road, the A1089 road and the A1013 road nearby. The nearest railway station is Tilbury Town. At one time, Orsett Heath was probably part of a large swathe of heathland interspaced with woodland.
The original Chadwell parish church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and this is the source of the suffix "St Mary" in the modern name. It is a grade I listed building located at the crossroads overlooking the marshes. There was a church in Chadwell before the Norman conquest.
