Nha Trang Airport (IATA: NHA, ICAO: VVNT) (also known as Camp McDermott Airfield and Long Van Airfield) was a French Air Force, Republic of Vietnam Air Force (RVNAF), United States Air Force (USAF) and Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF) (Khong Quan Nhan Dan Viet Nam) military airfield used during the Vietnam War.
It serves the city of Nha Trang, the capital of Khánh Hòa province, which is 30 km (16 NM) from the airport. This airport handled 9,747,172 passengers in 2019, [ 1 ] making it the fourth busiest airport in Vietnam , after Ho Chi Minh City , Hanoi and Da Nang , and one of the fastest growing airports in the country.
In mid-1962, the 2nd Fighter Squadron at Nha Trang AB began detaching six aircraft to Da Nang AB. [3]: 132 In September 1962, the 12th Air Base Squadron was formed at Nha Trang AB. [3]: 275 In December 1962, the 293rd Helicopter Squadron was activated at Tan Son Nhut AB, it was inactivated in August 1964.
