  2. Using an OLED as a PC Monitor; worth it? - [H]ard|Forum

    hardforum.com/threads/using-an-oled-as-a-pc-monitor-worth-it.1999364

4 hours of use per day is hardly a risk for burn in. There are those who have been using their OLED's for anywhere from 8-12 hours per day for YEARS without any sign of burn in still. Really at this point I think burn in is 99.9% avoidable as long as you know what you are doing, at least in the short term.

The LG OLED TV models are also an option if you disable automatic static brightness limiter from the service menu. Pretty much all of these are the same thing - same LG TV panels, varying firmware and port features. If you've been using a 43" monitor, I'd aim at the 42" OLED models instead. They are a more practical size for a desktop unit.

  4. Will there be a 38" UW OLED in 2024? - [H]ard|Forum

4,084. Zorachus said: 39" Ultrawide OLED at 3440 X 1440 res, that's an interesting one. At least a better PPI than the 45" LG and Corsair. Yeah but not a single panel on that roadmap is 38" 3840x1600 which is a bummer because that size + resolution + 240Hz + OLED sounds like a dream combo. like this. Dec 12, 2023.

  5. 27" 240hz OLED Monitor!!! (but there's a catch...) - [H]ard|Forum

People should be realistic about their expectations. Current Samsung QD Oled and LG W-OLED can only reach ~105 PPI. Suitable for 42‘ 4K, 34‘ UWQHD or 27‘ QHD. Samsung also has other Oled tech used in laptop and mobile that can reach higher PPI , but their process seems to be limited to screen sizes of ~16 inches.

Supreme [H]ardness. 45″ ultrawide with high resolution 5120 x 2160 (ultrawide UHD) and 165Hz refresh rate – the refresh rate is lower than their current 240Hz 45″ panel, but the resolution is significantly increased and should be far more suitable for all non-gaming uses on a screen this large than the current 3440 x 1440 resolution option.

The quantum dot layer and lack of polarizer in QD-OLED panels also make black levels appear elevated. TFT Central did an analysis of this. Obviously QD-OLED need to be used in pitch black room just like CRTs or plasma - I am used to this requirement. Otherwise with lights on image starts looking LCD-like.

  8. LG 48GQ900 OLED monitor - text clarity? - [H]ard|Forum

    hardforum.com/threads/lg-48gq900-oled-monitor-text-clarity.2024756

edit: according to RTings review of the LG 48gq900: Unfortunately, the matte anti-reflective coating adds a bit of haze to the screen, reducing the clarity a bit, so it's slightly worse than the LG 42 C2 OLED. Testing the 50 to 60 degree human viewing angle for part of your testing, if possible, would be valuable.

    484. Asus 42 inch OLED apparently comes with a heatsink. This should be the go-to display for PC users since heatsink also helps with image retention. Furthermore, Asus has worked to improve heat dissipation by adding a special heat sink so it does not cap brightness unnecessarily.

Too small. 27 is for a side monitor and is laughable as a main monitor. 32 is better but not big enough. 40 or 45 would be perfect. This isn't 2012 a large majority have moved on from smallish displays. Also they are still dim according to reviewers that have actually seen these new ones at CES.
