C, is a refurbished rod that had something damaged on it but was fixed by St. Croix, and comes with a one year warranty and will run a guy $30-50. I know people always say you get what you pay for but as a college student money is hard to come by, it is pretty tempting to buy 3 Legend Tournament Elites for $40 each versus one for $150+!
The reels are almost always low end models. You never know what you will find until you get there. While you are there, check out the “C” stock rods. These are rods that had the tip broken off and have been repaired. You can get a used $300 rod for $50. It might be one inch or one foot shorter than when it was made.
Posted August 1, 2012. So I am moving over to the dark side and have sold a couple of Curado's tn hopes of getting a couple more Pro's. I noticed a guy on Ebay selling "refurbished" TPs. I asked him for a price on 3 and he told me $300 for the 3 of them + $10 shipping!!! I was a bit shocked at the price so I asked him how scratched up they were ...
A lot of manufacturers won't bother selling "refurbished" reels back to the public, instead they sell them to warehouse vendors who sell them on ebay at huge discounts, it doesn't mean the reels are bad but you are getting factory seconds, blemished reels or refurbished reels most of the time and if you don't believe me consider this.
Rods and reels? Most sellers are legit. But a lot of the goods are factory seconds, display models or used passed off as “new.” There’s nothing wrong with used reels. I have some great ones. But you never know if the factory bearings were replaced with the $2.00 mystery metal bearings they sell on eBay.
I recently puchased a couple of reels and after servicing by ReelMech, still paid about 50% of (new) retail price. Rather than buying "refurbished" from a distant 3rd party, I prefer David Green's tune-up and inspection.
Michiganbassing. Members. 39. My PB: Between 4-5 lbs. Favorite Bass: Largemouth & Smallmouth. Posted November 3, 2017. Can anybody give me further insight into what a a reconditioned rod from fishermans factory outlet would contain. Like, would there maybe be a guide that broke and is now a different color or anything noticeably wrong or ...
Daiwa reels do not get adjusted like other reels. The bait should drop completely unrestricted. I have 4 Steez reels and all of them have a touch of left to right spool movement, and can be set to 4,5,6 (in strong wind I might go up to 7-8)without any backlash. If you have two that are acting the same, it is probably something you are doing.
They usually give you a summary of the condition on a rod-by-rod basis for the refurbished ones. They'll tell you if they repaired the handle, guides, etc. I'm sure they wouldn't sell one if they knew the blank was damaged, but sometimes a blank can be damaged with no real visible damage.
