Henry Wolf (May 23, 1925 – February 14, 2005) was an Austrian-born, American graphic designer, photographer and art director.He influenced and energized magazine design during the 1950s and 1960s with his bold layouts, elegant typography, and whimsical cover photographs while serving as art director at Esquire, Bazaar, and Show magazines.
William "Bill" Helburn (February 19, 1924 – November 3, 2020) was an American fashion and advertising photographer, best known for images published in magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Life, Town and Country, Esquire and Charm. Over the course of his career, Helburn won more than 46 professional awards for magazine and television ads.
Alexey Vyacheslavovich Brodovitch (also Brodovich; Belarusian: Аляксей Брадовіч, Russian: Алексе́й Вячесла́вович Бродо́вич; 1898 – April 15, 1971) was a Russian-American photographer, designer and instructor who is most famous for his art direction of fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar from 1934 to 1958.
In 1982 Baron moved to New York and became an art director for Barneys. [2] Six years later, Baron went on to reinvent Italian Vogue under editor Franca Sozzani. Baron joined Harper's Bazaar in 1992 as creative director working with editor-in-chief Liz Tilberis. He was brought on to revamp the magazine. [3]
After the war, Shaw began his professional photography career in New York City, managing the photographic studio at Harper's Bazaar, where he came under the influence and mentorship of art director Alexey Brodovitch. [2] From 1946 to 1948, Shaw did fashion photography for Harper's Bazaar and began acquiring advertising clients as well.
