It is in Central Texas and its county seat is Belton. [1] As of the 2020 census, its population was 370,647. [2] [3] Bell County is part of the Killeen–Temple, Texas, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county was founded in 1850 and is named for Peter Hansborough Bell, the third governor of Texas.

Belton Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Leon River in the Brazos River basin, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Belton, Texas, United States. The Woman's Commonwealth (also Belton Sanctificationists and Sisters of Sanctification) was a women's land-based commune first established in Belton, Texas. [1] It was founded in the late 1870s to early 1880s by Martha McWhirter and her women's bible study group on land that was inherited when the women's husbands died or quit the home.

The John Thompson Woodhouse House is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story, irregularly massed Tudor Revival house with a tile roof designed by George D. Mason.It is similar in design to the 1915 house Mason designed for Charles T. Fisher, located on West Boston Boulevard in Detroit in what is now the Boston-Edison Historic District.
The Bell County Courthouse in Belton, Texas was built in 1884. [2]: 38 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. [3] It is the third courthouse to serve Bell County. The structure was designed in the Renaissance Revival style by J. N. Preston & Son.
