The Ross River Dam is a rock and earthfill-filled embankment dam across the Ross River, located between Kelso and Mount Stuart in the City of Townsville in northern Queensland, Australia. Built initially for flood control , Lake Ross , the impoundment created by the dam, serves as one of the major potable water supplies for the region.

The site has an average of 320 days of sunshine annually. [1] It has a generating capacity of 116 megawatts. It utilizes 413,280 panels on a single-axis tracking system across 202 hectares.
The Ross River Dam is a major source of water for Townsville and the Majors Creek/Upper Haughton area. There is a substation at Woodstock to boost power to the area and it feeds into the Kelso substation in the Upper Ross area of Townsville.
It continues south through Thuringowa Central as Riverway Drive, passes through an intersection with the Bruce Highway, and then follows the western bank of the Ross River through Condon, Rasmussen, and Kelso. The road ends at the entry road to the Ross River Dam. Riverway Drive continues south-west as a local road. [7]
