The district added more public high schools in the mid-50s and early 1960s as the population of the Peninsula grew: Hillsdale High School (1955) and Aragon High School (1961) in San Mateo, Mills High School (1958) in Millbrae, and Crestmoor High School (1962) in San Bruno.
Aragon High School was established in 1961 to accommodate development and population growth in San Mateo. The campus is located in the affluent Foothill Terrace neighborhood [6] to the north of State Route 92 and west of State Route 82 (El Camino Real), on the border with the town of Hillsborough.

For the high school, established in 2013, a new campus of 133,000 square feet was built as part of the Bay Meadows development in San Mateo, opening in August 2014.
