Lothian East (/ ˈ l oʊ ð i ə n /; Scots: Lowden East; Scottish Gaelic: Lodainn an Ear) is a constituency in Scotland which returns one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected by the first-past-the-post voting system.
The 2022 East Lothian Council election took place on 5 May 2022 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. The election used the 5 wards created under the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, with 18 councillors being elected. Each ward elected either 3 or 4 members, using the STV electoral system.
The 2024 United Kingdom general election took place on 4 July 2024. [1] Counting began after conclusion of voting at 22:00 the same day and the results for almost all constituencies were declared in the early hours of 5 July.
