In Hamburg in 1961 and 1962, six songs were recorded on which the Beatles provided backing music for the vocalist Tony Sheridan and two more featuring only the foursome. "My Bonnie" and "The Saints", two of Sheridan's numbers, had been released in Germany in 1961 on a single and on the 1962 album My Bonnie under the moniker "Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers".
