The windmills at Kinderdijk in the village of Kinderdijk, Netherlands is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A windmill is a structure that converts wind power into rotational energy using vanes called sails or blades, by tradition specifically to mill grain (), but in some parts of the English-speaking world, the term has also been extended to encompass windpumps, wind turbines, and other applications.
Built in 1738 and 1740, to keep water out of the polder, it is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands and one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. The mills are listed as national monuments and the entire area is a protected village view since 1993.
The Old Fort Windmill stood out from other mills that followed it due to the extensive rules and regulations imposed by the Dutch authorities to oversee milling operations. Director Minuit was the first to introduce regulations specifically for this mill. In February 1652, an ordinance was passed to regulate the Old Fort Windmill.

The four-storey tower windmill was constructed in about 1820, to grind corn. [1] It is built of brick and is circular, tapering as it rises. It has two arched entrances, with multiple arched windows above.
