The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference began its first season of competition in the fall of 2006 as the Northern Athletics Conference. The name change took place at the beginning of the 2013–14 academic year. The NACC consists of 13 colleges and universities from the shared-border states of Illinois and Wisconsin.
The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's basketball tournament is the annual conference basketball championship tournament for the NCAA Division III Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The tournament has been held annually since the NACC's foundation in 2007.

The Green Knights joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) in July 2020 after 38 years in the Midwest Conference (MWC). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Prior to joining the NACC full-time, St. Norbert had been a member of that league in men's volleyball in the 2020 season (2019–20 school year), the school's first in that sport.

The conference was formed in 1969. Member institutions were located in the Midwestern United States in the states of Illinois and Iowa. After the 2005–06 academic year, the NIIC merged with the Lake Michigan Conference to form a new league called the Northern Athletics Conference (now known as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference).
