Castell (/ k æ ˈ s t ɛ l / ka-STEL) is a small unincorporated, rural town in Llano County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Texas German belt region, and most residents are still ethnic German-Texan. Its population was 104 at the 2010 census. Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, its northern border is formed by the Llano River.

US 82 leaves US 287 at Henrietta and continues east towards the small towns of Nocona (beginning as a four-lane divided highway), St. Jo and Muenster and crossing I-35 in Gainesville at a partial cloverleaf interchange (It has since been converted to a frontage road interchange in 2012.).
It also was known as Southern Pacific Railroad—Fairland to Llano branch. The historic district is generally a linear 30-mile (48 km) strip along the railroad with a 100 ft (30 m) width of the right-of-way for the tracks. The three exceptions to this are the Fairland wye, the Antlers Hotel in Kingsland and the original depot in Llano, Texas. [3]
