The 2024 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship was the 124th staging of the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board in 1897. The draws for the group stage pairings was made on 29 January 2024. [1] The championship is scheduled to run from 19 July to September 2024.
The Waterford County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. The winners of the Waterford county final join the champions of the other hurling counties to contest the provincial championship. Twelve teams currently participate in the Waterford County Championship.
At club level, Sheahan first played for Ballygunner at juvenile and underage levels, winning back-to-back Waterford MHC titles in 2017 and 2018. He eventually progressed to adult level and, after a year with the intermediate team, he won his first Waterford SHC medal in 2020. [2] It was the first of five successive Waterford SHC titles for Mahony.

Sheahan first played for Waterford as a member of the minor team in 2012. [7] He didn't feature for the under-21 team but was a member of the senior team's extended panel when they were beaten by Limerick in the 2020 All-Ireland final. [8] Sheahan made his debut in a National Hurling League game against Westmeath in May 2021. [9]

The final was played on 1 September 2024 at Fraher Field in Dungarvan, between Brickey Rangers and Clashmore–Kinsalebeg, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Brickey Rangers won the match by 1–23 to 0–22 to claim their first ever championship title.
His performances there earned selection to the Munster Colleges inter-provincial team in 1951, while two years later he captained the college's senior team to their Harty Cup triumph.
