Apollo is a borough in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States, 35 miles (56 km) northeast of Pittsburgh in a former coal-mining region. Apollo was settled in 1790, laid out in 1816, and incorporated as a borough in 1848.

In 1974, the Eighth Street Bridge was formally renamed the Albertus L. Meyers Bridge in honor of Albertus L. Meyers, a conductor of the Allentown Band and a cornet player in John Philip Sousa's band. As a boy, Meyers played in the Allentown Band at the 1913 opening of the bridge that now bears his name. [5]

Drake Log Cabin is a historic log cabin located at Apollo, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. It was built about 1816, and is a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-story, one-room, rectangular log cabin measuring 18 feet by 22 feet. It has a gable roof and interior end stone chimney.
It is bordered by the borough of Apollo to the south and by the borough of East Vandergrift across the river to the west. According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 0.62 square miles (1.6 km 2 ), of which 0.54 square miles (1.4 km 2 ) is land and 0.039 square miles (0.1 km 2 ), or 9.22%, is water.
Gerald Click "Click" Schreck (March 8, 1939 – April 2, 2022) was an American sailor and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City , where he received a gold medal in the Dragon class as crew member (with George Friedrichs and Barton Jahncke ) on the boat Williwaw .
