Grizzly and Jet use Taiwan/Chinese made bearings. They seem to last 5-8 years in hobby shop before getting noisy. Can easily push them longer, but you want ear plugs. Powermatic tools will last 8-12 years on average before you need bearing service, as they use American OEM motors made in Taiwan.

I also have several other stationary tools, also very decent. Grizzly came on the scene as a low cost importer, and they they have strived to improve their products ever since.

Not, "Love" in the same sense as the way I feel for my wife, or my kids, or my dog, but this Saw is great. I was quite reluctant to buy it frankly.

A very well used Grizzly 24" dual drum sander for $350 (may need some TLC), a hardly used Grizzly 18" open end for $650, and a nearly new Woodtech 13" widebelt for $800.

PERFORMANCE: 3 of 5. This machine comes with a European style blade guard, but it's a little cheap and rickety. When jointing, it really only covers the part of the cutterhead you are not using, and leaves the working part wide open. Basically, there's nothing between you and that 1" or so of blade by the fence.

Grizzly (at the hobby level) provides bare bones machines with plenty of over the phone and through the mail support for the price but innovation isn't their gig, don't expect a innovative 17" bandsaw for $1,200 or a forward thinking cabinet saw for $1,500, expect a bare bones machine and you will likely be happy.

I have had good service from the tools and fantastic customer service from the company. My favorite Grizzly tool is my 8" spiral head jointer. I was able to joint highly figured curly maple with no tear-out. The 24" dual headed drum sander was how I milled the wood since a straight knife planer would produce tear-out.
