Blackstrap molasses, also known as black treacle, has dark color, relatively small sugar content and strong flavour. It is sometimes added to animal feed, or processed to produce rum, or ethanol for fuel. Regular molasses and golden syrup treacle have higher sugar content and lighter color, relative to blackstrap.
