It hurts in my lower right back and wraps aroung the bottom of my rib cage to the front right side. It feels like a vice grip around my lower rib cage in front, or like a belt tightening.

Posts: 1. Re: Pain under right rib cage- only at night! Could possibly be a peptic ulcer. There is a simple breath test (urea) test that checks for gases released by the bacteria that causes the ulcer.
I just came from my annual physical. I, too, have a dull ache, intermittant, on my upper right side just below my rib cage. My doctor has having me get a ultrasound. She thinks that it may be either a colon problem - or - a residual problem from getting recurrent dysentary in asia. (at first I thought it was a pulled muscle too)
I am not sure if this is the right board for this but I didn't know where else to post this. For the past week or so I have been having a werid pain right under my rib on the left side. It is unwise to mix alcohol and iron supplements, and most experts agree, it is simply unwise to take iron supplements in general unless you've had a blood test that shows you are in fact both anemic and low on iron.
