In 2016, the NA3EHL was merged into the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) and the Tier III Generals followed. [3] On April 1, 2016, the Generals were also approved for a Tier II junior team in the NA3HL's overseeing organization, the North American Hockey League (NAHL). [4] The Generals became the easternmost team in the NAHL.
On November 18, 2014, the NAHL announced it was adding the Skylands Kings junior hockey team for expansion to the NA3EHL beginning play in the 2015–16 season. [12] On April 9, 2015, the NA3EHL announced the addition of the Northeast Generals as an expansion team to begin play the following season based out of Canton, Massachusetts. [13]
