    Try viewing the map in a satellite or terrain mode on you phone while online. It will cache the images of that area you are trying to hike at. Than you will be able to see the map in satellite mode while offline but it will only show you what you have viewed while you were online. make sure you zoom in as much as you need to.

    Hello, It is a few days since the satellite view doesn't work anymore in google maps. Formerly, I had to roll the mouse wheel backwards to switch from street view mode to satellite view mode (or whatever you call it). But now, rolling the mouse wheel backwards doesn't have any effect. The problem can be reproduced on my colleagues' desktop as well.
