Sheridan College was established in 1967. The School of Graphic Design was located in Brampton, Ontario until 1970, when it moved to the new campus in Oakville, Ontario. The Brampton campus was a converted public high school that had previously been in condemned status until re-fitted for use by Sheridan College.
The undergraduate advanced diploma is awarded upon the completion of a three-year program of study at the undergraduate level. According to the Ontario Qualifications Framework, the advanced diploma is listed as a level 8, whereas a basic certificate is a level 1 and a doctoral degree is level 13.
