This is a List of exoplanets discovered in 2012. [1] For exoplanets detected only by radial velocity, the mass value is actually a lower limit. (See Minimum mass for more information)
The densest transiting exoplanet known is CoRoT-3b, which has density of 26.4 g/cm 3; the diffusest transiting planet known is Kepler-12b, which has density of only 0.111 g/cm 3. Previously, the longest period of any transiting planets was Kepler-1647b , which takes 1107 days to orbit its (double) stars.
This list of exoplanets discovered in 2021 is a list of confirmed exoplanets that were first observed in 2021. For exoplanets detected only by radial velocity, the listed value for mass is a lower limit. See Minimum mass for more information.
Astrometry has been used to discover a handful number of exoplanets, mostly gas giants more massive than Jupiter. It is based on measuring a star's proper motion, and seeing how that position changes over time: a planet with a sufficiently large mass is able to gravitationally pull its host star, making its proper motion vary over large timescales.
A potentially habitable exoplanet that is roughly similar in size to Earth has been found in a system located 40 light-years away, according to a new study. ... which launched into space in 2021 ...
Exoplanets have been discovered using several different methods for collecting or combining direct images to isolate planets from the background light of their star. Non-Redundant Aperture Masking Interferometry is a method of combining the views of multiple telescopes into a single image, while the other methods are algorithms for combining ...
The planet is located some 1,200 light-years away. A light-year is 5.8 trillion miles. It's the second-lightest exoplanet found so far based on its dimensions and mass, according to the ...
From the total of 5,086 stars known to have exoplanets (as of January 26, 2024), there are a total of 1,033 known multiplanetary systems, [1] or stars with at least two confirmed planets, beyond the Solar System. This list includes systems with at least three confirmed planets or two confirmed planets where additional candidates have been proposed.
