Leo Brent Bozell Jr. (/ b oʊ ˈ z ɛ l /; January 15, 1926 – April 15, 1997) was an American conservative activist and Catholic writer, and former United States Merchant Mariner. He was a conservative Catholic, and a strong supporter of the anti-abortion movement .
Bozell is one of ten children of L. Brent Bozell Jr. and Patricia Buckley Bozell. [1] He is a nephew of the late conservative writer and National Review founder William F. Buckley Jr. and the late United States Senator James L. Buckley through Buckley's sister, Patricia, and is a grandson of William Frank Buckley Sr.
Bozell founded Triumph in 1966 as a magazine for American Catholic conservatives following the Second Vatican Council.Bozell, previously an editor for National Review founded by his brother-in-law William F. Buckley, Jr., was put off by the insufficient respect the largely Catholic editorial board of the magazine paid to Catholic social teaching.
The book was largely ghostwritten by L. Brent Bozell Jr., brother-in-law of William F. Buckley Jr. [1] [2] Bozell and Buckley had been members of Yale's debate team. They had co-authored the controversial book, McCarthy and His Enemies, in 1955. Bozell had been Goldwater's speechwriter in the 1950s and was familiar with many of his ideals.
