- Its an issue of terminology. Superbase needs to mean something other than just 'strong base,' because we have a term for that. As a synthetic chemist, I would consider a superbase to involve mild conditions, ease of use and low nucleophilicity. Inorganic bases do not come to mind when I think of these mixtures of qualities.
