Blum House, also known as Levy House, is a historic residence built in 1902 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, United States. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since July 30, 1992; [ 2 ] and part of the Uptown Vicksburg Historic District since 1993.
Despite its proximity to the Confederate lines and to the Yazoo and Mississippi Rivers, the house survived the Siege of Vicksburg in 1863. The house was used as a hospital after the battle. [3] Joseph Emory Davis, Jefferson Davis' older brother and mentor, and a granddaughter lived in the house from 1868 until his death on 18 September 1870.
Its county seat is Vicksburg. [2] Established by legislative act of December 22, 1809, Warren County is named for American Revolutionary War officer Joseph Warren. Part of the Mississippi Delta and the historic cotton culture, Warren County had major plantations. Vicksburg was an important river port.
