The 61st Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony was held on September 12, 2009 at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. [1] This was in conjunction with the annual Primetime Emmy Awards and was presented in recognition of technical and other similar achievements in American television programming.
The nominations were announced on July 16, 2009. [2] On July 13, 2009, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that Neil Patrick Harris would host the Primetime ceremony (even going so far as to play Dr. Horrible at one point).
