  2. Air ioniser - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_ioniser

An air ioniser (or negative ion generator or Chizhevsky's chandelier) is a device that uses high voltage to ionise (electrically charge) air molecules. Negative ions, or anions , are particles with one or more extra electrons , conferring a net negative charge to the particle.

Ozone generators are designed to produce ozone and are sometimes sold as whole-house air cleaners. Unlike ionizers, ozone generators are intended to produce significant amounts of ozone, a strong oxidant gas which can oxidize many other chemicals. The only safe use of ozone generators is in unoccupied rooms, utilising "shock treatment ...

In 2020, the Tsinghua University successfully developed a medical-grade high-concentration negative oxygen ion generator. It only needs to be sprayed on the room's walls to form a uniform and dense layer of nanoparticles on the wall, allowing the indoor wall to stably and long-term release high-concentration small-particle negative oxygen ions.

  5. Ozone - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone

UV ozone generators use ambient air for ozone production, no air prep systems are used (air dryer or oxygen concentrator), therefore these generators tend to be less expensive. However, UV ozone generators usually produce ozone with a concentration of about 0.5% or lower which limits the potential ozone production rate.

For seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing high (4.5x10 14 ions/second) and low (1.7x10 11 ions/second) flow rate negative air ionization with bright light therapy found that the post-treatment improvement percentage was 57.1% for bright light, 47.9% for high-density ions and 22.7% for low-density ions. A negative ion generator (ioniser or ionizer) is not the same as an ozone (O3) generator although some ionisers do produce a small amount of ozone as a by-product. So to say that there are two types of ioniser and define that distinction by either ion production or ozone production is entirely incorrect. The second paragraph is also incorrect.
