Based on the PSA DW12 engine [citation needed] and with a capacity of 2.2 L (2,179 cc), this engine was released in 2000 by PSA in the Peugeot 406, 607 and Citroen C5. The 48 volt electrical architecture JLR announced with this new engine is similar to Mercedes-Benz's "EQ Boost" and Audi's 48 V systems available ...
The engine was launched in the Land Rover in 1957. The vehicle had to have an extra 2 in (51 mm) let into the chassis in the engine bay to enable the new engine to fit.
