Support To me a craft knife or hobby knife is the generic term for an X-acto knife, the pencil-shaped metal handle with small replacable blades. Utility knife is the right name for the heavy-duty, plastic-handled, break-off blade knife. Although colloquially, here in Canada, it's just as often called by the brand name Olfa knife.
