The main event is a series of timed runs in which antique automobiles, trucks, and motorcycles from the Steam, Brass, Vintage, Antique, and Classic Car eras ascend the town's steep, 1800-foot-long Main Street hill as quickly as possible. The festival is the second largest auto event in Indiana after the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400. [1]

The Northwest Crossroads Conference in Indiana. The Northwest Crossroads Conference is a seven-member IHSAA-sanctioned athletic conference.Six of the seven institutions are in Lake County, while the sixth, Kankakee Valley, is in neighboring Jasper County.

According to the 2020 Census, the largest definition of Northwest Indiana has a population of 866,965 and is the state's second largest urban area after the Indianapolis Metropolitan Area. It is also the home of the Indiana Dunes , parts of which have been preserved through conservation efforts.
